Method

Start by washing the rice: place the rice in a large sieve and rinse under cold running water for 1-2 minutes, mixing the rice around with your hand to ensure all grains are washed thoroughly, and any excess starch has been removed.

Place oil, rice, salt and water in a saucepan over a medium high heat and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat to low and cover with a lid. Cook for 10 minutes or until all the water has been absorbed. Remove from the heat and keep it covered for 10 minutes. Fluff up the rice with a fork and serve.
